Strengthening collaborations on small-scale fisheries research in Latin America and the Caribbean

On February 3 to 5, 2019, several TBTI members met in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to discuss
ways of building collaboration between government agencies, researchers, and civil
society organizations to address issues and concerns affecting small-scale fisheries
in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Transdisciplinarity and Transformation for the Future of Small-Scale Fisheries

Close to 400 researchers, practitioners, small-scale fishers, civil society organizations, environmental organizations, and government representatives gathered on 22–26 October 2018 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to discuss transdisciplinary strategies to sustain small-scale fisheries as a global food production system, as part of the 3rd World Small-Scale Fisheries Congress.

SSF Open House

TBTI invited groups, organizations or networks that represent or work with small-scale fishing communities to organize a session during the ‘Small-Scale Fisheries Open House’.

Transdisciplinarity in Fisheries and Ocean Sustainability

This report provides the highlights and feedback from the three day-workshop that brought
together about 20 scholars and practitioners on small-scale fisheries from North America,
Central and South America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Using Transdisciplinarity for Fisheries Policies and SSF Guidelines Implementation

The virtual workshop titled ‘Using Transdisciplinarity for Fisheries Policies and SSF Guidelines Implementation’ workshop, which took place during November 30 – December 4 2020, was organized by the Too Big To Ignore project, a global research network aiming to elevate the profile and importance of SSF around the world.

Using Transdisciplinarity for Fisheries Policies and the SSF Guidelines Implementation in Thailand

The primary aim of the workshop was to introduce the participants to the concept and approaches in transdisciplinarity for fisheries and ocean governance, and how they can be used to facilitate the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication (SSF Guidelines) in Thailand.

The virtual workshop titled ‘Using Transdisciplinarity for Fisheries Policies and the SSF Guidelines Implementation in India’ workshop, which took place during April 14-16th 2021, was organized by the Too Big To Ignore project in collaboration with two other global research partnerships: Dried Fish Matters and From Vulnerability to Viability.
