Reaching fishing communities with timely research has become easier as internet access expands across coastal regions. TBTI’s newsletter now lands in inboxes from the Philippines to Senegal, often on the same mobile devices that fishers use to check weather forecasts, coordinate with buyers, and manage household finances.

That connectivity has reshaped daily life in many of the communities our Country Hubs serve. Young fishers spend their downtime between hauls on social media, online casinos that accept crypto, and video platforms. Their parents relied on word of mouth and community radio. The shift is generational, and it means that organizations producing fisheries research must meet their audiences on digital channels or risk being overlooked entirely.
