“TBTI Global” is a research and capacity building network, focusing on all aspects of small-scale fisheries. As a not-for-profit organization, TBTI Global works in collaboration with scientists, practitioners, governments and non-governmental organizations around the world to elevate the profile of small-scale fisheries, reduce vulnerability and enhance viability, strengthen their organizations, build capacity and improve their role and influence in policy and decision-making. Ultimately, TBTI Global aim to support the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries, and the Sustainable Development Goals. Key activities include interdisciplinary research, knowledge mobilization, transdisciplinary (TD) dialogues, TD training workshops, and hosting of meetings and conferences in various locations around the world. TBTI Global is pleased to announce TWO full-time staff positions to be based at its headquarters at Faculty of Science, Ramkhamhaeng University, Huamark, Bangkok. The positions are for one year, but may be renewable. The details about the positions, including qualifications, duties and salaries are provided below. Position # 1: Senior Researcher This position aims at an early career scientist who has either recently obtained a PhD from any discipline, or completed a Masters’ degree (any disciplines) and has 1-2 years of work experience (in any field). While disciplinary background and experience is open to any field, preference will be given to applicants with experience in fisheries. A good command of English (especially in writing and reading) is a must. Ideal candidates should be able to work independently, without supervision, are matured and responsible, and have flexibility in working hours. Working knowledge of website, database and GIS is a plus. The job will require travels (mainly within the country, but can also involve overseas trips).

Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Conduct independent research (secondary and field data collection)

• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data

• Prepare written reports (in English)

• Production of figures, maps and graphics

• Contribute to writing of journal articles and research proposals

• Help produce website and social media contents

• Participate in project meetings (may involve presentation)

• Communicate and coordinate with network members

• Liaise with partners

• Lead and supervise research assistant(s)

The person in this position will report directly to Dr. Kungwan Juntarashote, TBTI Global Director, and will work collaboratively with other team members.
Salaries are highly competitive, and commensurable with degree and experience.

Position # 2: Research Assistant This position will assist the ‘Senior Researcher’, the TBTI Global Director, and the research team with all aspects of research (see above) and office duties. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in any field. Good knowledge of computer (especially Word and Excel) is a must. An ability to read and write English is desirable. No work experience is necessary. Salaries are highly competitive, and commensurable with degree and experience.
